May 22, 1997: We arrived at Petra and each got on a donkey. 
The donkey took us to this......
and then we dismounted, walked through the fissure and saw THIS! (The Khaznah or Treasury dating back to 56 B.C)
You mean that scene in Indiana Jones is REAL??!!!!

Is this unbelievable or what?
Petra is, as phrased by 1000 Places to See Before You Die, "one of the wonders of the ancient world." Petra covers an area approximately 2 square miles in size. We spent quite a while there and were told that we only saw 10% of the "city." So, allow a full day or even a couple of days if you can.
Verdict: Undoubtedly one of the coolest places I have ever seen in my life!
